Integrated Services Spring 2012 Updates

Thursday March 29th, 6-8pm at Lesher Middle School
 
Parent Academy is offered by Integrated Services staff in order to connect with all parents/guardians of students receiving special education servicesOur goal is to provide you with cutting edge information on topics related to your child's special needs.
 
Spring Topics include: (see link for session details)
·         Making School Connections and Fostering Friendships
·         Math and Literacy Strategies for Home
·         Promoting Well-Being for Parents of Children with Special Needs
 
There will also be a community resource fair with an emphasis on:                      
·         Summer opportunities for children with special needs
·         Self-care support and resources for parents/guardians

Current PSD and Community Events (see attachments and links)
 
March 3rd:           Movie Day for children with special need at AMC Cinema Saver 6
 
March 5th:           Capernaum Hoedown dance lessons, food, and fun for students with special needs and their families.
 
March 22nd:         The 2012 PSD Transition Series (for families with students age 14 and up) Series dates are: March 22nd and April 26th
                                March 22nd Topic is "Legal and Social Security Information"
               
March 29th:         Spring Parent Academy: Parents as Partners
 
March 30th:         Special Olympics Track and Field Day Registration Deadline.  The Event is May 4th, 2012 at FRHS.  Middle School and High School students are eligible. 
Complete the application and submit it to your student's Integrated Services Teacher
 
April 26-28th:      PEP Conference (Parents Encouraging Parents) April Conference is in Steamboat Springs.
Each two and one-half day PEP Conference begins Thursday evening at 5:00 p.m. and continues through Saturday afternoon until 3:00 p.m. The Colorado Department of Education pays for all lodging and participant meals (excluding Friday evening's meal). With these provisions to participants, we hope to provide the opportunity of the PEP experience to all interested families!
 
                                I'll be attending PEP in April and I'd love for you to join me!  Registration is easy.
